Woodlands accepts Referrals of young people throughout the United Kingdom
Woodlands is a 15-bedded specialist Tier 4 adolescent (mixed gender) inpatient unit. We accept young people presenting with a wide range of psychiatric, emotional, behavioural and social difficulties and illnesses, such as:
• Serious Mood disorders including Bipolar disorder
• Severe Anxiety disorders
• Psychotic illnesses
• Severe challenging and risky / offending behaviour (including Conduct disorder) with or without a psychiatric disorder
• Dual diagnosed mental health conditions and substance misuse
• Complicated Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
• Complex grief and adjustment disorders
• Serious attachment problems and complicated emotional and behaviour difficulties
• Emerging personality disorders with complex range of difficulties and needs
• Eating disorders
• Comprehensive and specialist assessment (including Risk Assessment) and high quality, integrated, evidence-based management/ treatment within a low secure set up
• Intensive and high standard care and educational support in a safe, positive and flexible environment
• Individualised care plans with active user involvement
• Care plan/ management orchestrated by specialist multidisciplinary team in close collaboration/ partnership with local networks of professionals, family and other carers
• Overall care co-ordination by robust CPA and Multi-agency liaison
Woodlands is a ground floor building comprising of separate male and female bedroom areas with a total of fifteen comfortable en suite bedrooms. In addition there are four lounges, a dining area, classroom and rehabilitation kitchen and a large number of multifunctional therapy rooms. Woodlands is set in twelve acres of grounds, and includes a well-resourced on-site activities centre with a large sensory room. Woodlands offers on-site education run in line with AQA requirements and following the National Curriculum. There is provision for individuals with special education needs, which enables them to continue their studies. Patients can also participate in social skills groups, daily living skills, cookery, cycling, basketball and football and a range of other activities, including an extensive community programme.
The young person will receive therapy from our multidisciplinary team, who will involve Consultant Psychiatrist, Registered Nurses, Psychologists, Education, Occupational Therapy and Social Worker. Programs are individually tailored and focused on assessment followed by treatment and intensive rehabilitation. The young person will be supported in their day-to-day living by Registered Nurses, Care Support Worker and Senior Care Support Workers.
