Beech House

Beech House is a modern Low Secure Hospital Unit aimed at providing a therapeutic environment for patients with mental health needs.

The unit is located on St. Luke’s site in Ebbw Vale, South Wales. It is in the heart of the valley, with the town centre a very short distance away, and as such patients are encouraged to visit regularly.  Accessing the local town compounds their learning experiences in a very practical setting and works in harmony with in-house programmes designed to improve and build upon social skills.

Beech House offers a range of activities – including opportunities to get involved in high tech digital photography and make use of a music studio.

Beech House is laid out over one floor with twelve individual bedrooms with en suite facilities. Other facilities include a number of lounge areas, activity rooms and treatment rooms. For the convenience of patients, there is a large secure garden to the rear of the building.

Admissions criteria

Beech House admits males and females aged 18-65 with diagnosis of mental illness or personality disorder. Patients may have a dual diagnosis or forensic history. We admit patients who may be liable to detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 (sections 2,3,37,37/41).

Clinical team

Therapy is delivered by a multidisciplinary team including: consultant psychiatrist, associate specialist psychiatrist, registered nurses, psychologist, occupational therapist and social workers. Programmes are individually tailored and focused on assessment followed by treatment and intensive rehabilitation.
